Huisman develops the world's first service platform in the maritime industry using the Intershop Commerce Platform

Jena (DE) / Schiedam (NL), Germany, October 23, 2023 – Huisman Equipment B.V. sets a milestone in the maritime and heavy lifting industry sector with the introduction of myHuisman, based on the Intershop Commerce Platform. The company is the world’s leader for the design, manufacture and service of heavy construction equipment aimed at the oil, renewable energy, and naval industries.
For Huisman to be able to further professionalize its services worldwide, it required a digital platform that would allow all the different services to be integrated into a single, unified environment. With the Intershop Commerce Platform, a progressive web application was created that can be used by ships and vessels when they are online. The platform also has multiple degrees of customization and hierarchies and provides a technical library, part shop, and service/customer support channel.

Huisman's products range from cranes, pipelay equipment, drilling equipment, and winches, to vessel designs and special tailormade equipment. The company designed and built the largest cranes in the world – two 10,000 mt tub mounted cranes for Heerema's Sleipnir, a semi-submersible crane vessel. Yet, until 2019, Huisman did not have any form of an online platform for its customers.
