As a direct sales company for professional users, the welding technology and workshop expert TECHNOLIT serves customers in the craft, automotive, and agricultural sectors as well as industry and trade. To meet modern requirements and remain competitive, the family business decided to invest in e-commerce and launch a new online shop based on the Intershop Commerce Platform.

TECHNOLIT is part of the LANGGROUP, which includes other companies such as IWETEC, HOTREGA, Wilpeg, and LangService. The group employs over 1,500 people at three locations and generates a turnover of around 160 million euros. With increasing expansion, TECHNOLIT has developed into a full-range supplier with over 50,000 items over the years. More than 125,000 customers trust the quality of the products.

The challenge
  • For a successful rollout in multiple countries, a platform was needed that is easy to use and administer, and that offers future security through expandability and regular updates.
  • To start the implementation even before the completion of the requirements analysis phase, a combination of agile project approach and waterfall model was necessary.
  • Several partners, resellers, and distributors of the LANGGROUP had to be integrated into the new e-commerce platform.
The result
  • Decision for a scalable e-commerce platform that offers a powerful and efficient cloud architecture, where grown systems and structures can also be restored.
  • Definition of a Minimal Viable Product (MVP) that serves not only as a pilot but as an operational system with which revenue could be generated immediately after go-live in the individual country channels.
  • In twelve months, three shops in Germany and six more shops for the international companies were revised.
  • Connection to ERP systems, PIM catalog data, and other necessary third-party systems was realized to ensure seamless functionality and data consistency.
Our ambition was not only to meet current requirements but also to set the course for the digital future. With the Intershop Commerce Platform, we have a state-of-the-art e-commerce platform that offers a powerful and efficient cloud solution.
