MUSIC STORE successfully migrated to Intershop's cloud-based Commerce Platform

  • Average page load time more than 50 percent faster due to cloud transformation
  • Upgrade to latest version Intershop Commerce Management 7.10
  • Database switch to MS SQL on Microsoft Azure

Jena / Cologne (DE), Germany, June 6, 2022 – MUSIC STORE professional GmbH has been relying on Intershop for over ten years. Due to the many years of cooperation and trust in the product, Europe's leading music retailer finally opted for the cloud transformation. In the course of this, the migration from the on-premise version 7.4 to the latest version 7.10 of the cloud-based Intershop Commerce Platform and a database switch to MS SQL Microsoft Azure took place.

“By upgrading to the latest Intershop version, MUSIC STORE can now access a comprehensive set of new functionalities and has much better sales opportunities for its diverse range of goods. I am very pleased with the decision to take this important step towards the cloud-based Intershop Commerce Platform,” said Markus Klahn, CEO of Intershop Communications AG.

Two central requirements were implemented as part of the migration project: First, the customer customizations had to be transferred one-to-one so that all functionalities of the old online shop were also available in the new system. Secondly, customers were to be presented with customized offers that took their needs into account thanks to improved personalization options.

The aim of the cloud transformation was to create a high-performance, scalable, and highly available platform. It also enables maximum flexibility, minimal maintenance times, and calculable hosting costs. “Initial measurements and analyses have shown that the average page load time on the new cloud platform is more than 50 percent faster compared to the previous on-premise environment,” says Michael Sauer, Managing Director of MUSIC STORE professional GmbH.

In the future, MUSIC STORE plans to integrate the SPARQUE.AI solution for personalized recommendations to further advance the topic of personalization. In addition, the frontend will be upgraded to the latest Intershop standard, and a Progressive Web App (PWA) will be introduced. This will bring even faster loading times and offer customers an optimized, app-like user experience.
