Jena, Germany, May 14, 2013 – Intershop Communications AG, provider of innovative e-commerce solutions and services, wins another major client: Stadtwerke Rostock AG. An energy provider based on Germany’s Baltic coast, Stadtwerke Rostock AG chose the turnkey solution for the utility sector developed by Intershop in partnership with T-Systems Multimedia Solutions when it decided to implement an online customer portal. The portal is an investment in both long-term customer loyalty and more efficient business processes.
Stadtwerke Rostock AG supplies gas and electricity to approximately 150,000 customers. It also operates a district heating network that currently includes more than 60% of the residential properties in Rostock. Committed to high standards of service, the company wants to enable customers to manage their own account details online and view billing, contract, and other information via a convenient self-service portal. In addition, the new system will include a customer advisor portal where local customer center staff can access account details on behalf of customers, update information, alter pricing plans, and provide information on current energy consumption.
Jochen Moll, Member and Spokesman of the Board of Management at Intershop: “Current market developments and increasing competition are forcing energy providers to innovate. To get ahead of the competition and be successful long-term, they have to offer customers added value and high service standards. With Intershop and T-Systems Multimedia Solutions, Stadtwerke Rostock AG has the partners it needs to create an interactive and user-friendly customer portal.”
Two of the most compelling features of the Intershop solution are its flexibility and scalability—both of which ensure easy integration with any future add-on systems. In addition, it is possible to include images, advisory notices, and marketing copy on all pages that customers use to manage and view information. There are also powerful graphic tools for visual representation of user data, such as energy consumption and cost.
Norbert Olschewski, Head of Sales for Private and Business Customers at Stadtwerke Rostock AG: “As a regional energy supplier, our aim is to provide our customers with first-class service—be it expert advice in our customer centers or by way of an online self-service portal. The Intershop solution offers powerful functionality, easy-to-use back-end tools, and exceptional convenience for our customers. We are very confident that our online strategy will be successfully implemented with the aid of Intershop and T-Systems Multimedia Solutions.”
Heike Nickisch, Head of E-Commerce Solutions & Services at T-Systems Multimedia Solutions: “We’re delighted to join up with our long-standing partner Intershop to create a self-service portal for Stadtwerke Rostock AG built on the Intershop 7 platform. It’s another opportunity to draw on our many years of experience in the design and development of self-service and e-commerce solutions for the telecom and utility sectors.”
The new customer portal for Stadtwerke Rostock AG is scheduled to go live in September 2013.
