New online channel for watchmaker Binda Group is based on Intershop solution

  • Binda Group selects Intershop´s transaction based license model to manage international multi-brand platform
  • Rollout has begun in Italy with the Breil watch brand

Jena, Germany, December 10, 2013 – The watchmaking company Binda Group is venturing into multi-channel commerce by setting up an additional online sales channel, powered by Intershop, the leading independent provider of omni-channel commerce solutions.

After a detailed evaluation of several vendors offering transaction based revenue models, Binda Group selected Intershop; a flexible, scalable solution that allows Binda Group to manage multiple brands and local sites centrally while keeping its financial risks low. It also enables easy configuration and integration with existing systems. This means less administrative hassle and faster, more consistent global rollouts. Responsive design was also a crucial specification to make the shop seamlessly accessible both from desktop and mobile devices.

The Italian company was founded nearly 100 years ago, has 1,450 employees worldwide. It owns the brands Breil, Hip Hop, Freestyle, Vetta and Chronotech, which are distributed in 20,000 shops around the world, along with seven other licensed brands. Binda Group has started the rollout of its own shopping platform on the web with the brand Breil in Italy just in time for the Valentine’s Day peak. Other brands and countries will follow throughout 2014.

Previously, Binda sold its products through authorized dealers in Italy and worldwide via its own branches, production units and distributors. The new multi-channel strategy allows Binda to get closer to its customers.
