Mobile Commerce Dominates DIAG 21

  • Successful customer projects for mobile sales presented
  • Additional focus on sales channel integration
  • Meeting of German Intershop User Group (DIAG) firmly established as innovation forum for Intershop customers

Jena, Germany, October 28, 2010 – The German Intershop User Group (DIAG) meets regularly to share experiences and discuss particular successes and ideas for the future development of e-commerce. The specialist forum was held for the 21st time on October 26–27, with some 50 customers attending.

After Marc Sule, Vice President Product Development at GSI, had discussed global trends and future scenarios, the focus switched to mobile commerce, the main theme of the event. Tobias Zadow, Solution Manager at Intershop, spoke about current application areas and emerging trends in m-commerce. Customer presentations underlined the impact that mobile commerce has already had on e-commerce, with successful home shopping companies and retailers providing insights into existing mobile sales concepts powered by Intershop technology.

Integration of sales channels is becoming increasingly important for online sellers. A leading provider of consumer electronics explained its approach and practical application. Global integration also brings with it complex supplier relationships, multiple links to marketplaces, and the costs associated with storage capacities and logistics solutions. Here, Klaus Skripalle of Intershop subsidiary TheBakery demonstrated how closer collaboration between e-commerce providers can also yield logistical and cost benefits.

The e-commerce and store managers present also heard from Henry Göttler, Management Board member at Intershop, who explained how Intershop helps them to control, manage, and optimize their businesses.

After a full and varied two-day program, attendees of the 21st DIAG took away a wealth of ideas for projects in their own companies. 97 percent confirmed that they were likely to take part in another DIAG event in the future.
