Cologne, Jena, December 16, 2014 ‒ Klarna and Intershop Communications AG are entering into a partnership. As part of this cooperation, Intershop has now integrated Klarna invoice and purchase installment plan systems into its enterprise software solutions. Online retailers relying on Intershop modules can now allow their customers to pay for their purchases via invoice ‒ the most popular payment method in Germany.
"We are very pleased to be working together with Klarna and are confident that the integration of invoice and purchase installment plan systems into our modules will enable our customers to meet consumer needs even better, helping them grow even stronger. In addition, Klarna, like Intershop, has a very strong presence in Scandinavia, meaning that this partnership is likely to produce synergy effects," said Udo Rauch, VP Channel of Intershop Communications AG.
Gerrit Seidel, Senior Vice President for DACH at Klarna, also emphasized the win-win situation for both partners, adding, "This is the first step toward intensive cooperation between Klarna and Intershop in the future, as this partnership entails numerous benefits for both sides. More and more online retailers are working together with Klarna and an increasing number of consumers are making purchases via Klarna. Intershop has a number of major and prestigious customers, including HP, Deutsche Telekom, Bosch and Baur, which is why we are delighted that Intershop customers now have the opportunity to incorporate Klarna invoice and purchase installment plan systems into their shop systems."
The first joint customer is Runners Point, a specialist for running shoes, running wear, and running accessories. The company already uses the Intershop solution with integrated Klarna invoice and purchase installment plan systems for its online shop Runnerspoint.com.
Klarna was founded in Stockholm in 2005 with the idea of simplifying buying. Klarna does so by making it possible for consumers to pay for goods only after they arrive in the mail, while also assuming credit and fraud risks for retailers. Today, Klarna is one of Europe's fastest-growing companies.
In 2014 Klarna joined forces with SOFORT and formed the Klarna Group, Europe’s leading payment provider. The Klarna Group employs more than 1,100 people and is active in 16 markets. More than 25 million online shoppers use our services, and we cooperate with 45,000 merchants. Klarna´s goal is to become the world's favorite way to shop.
