Jena, Germany, September 3, 2013 – Leading global styrenics supplier Styrolution Group GmbH has been using the Intershop 7 e-commerce platform for online sales since January 2013. The new online store gives business customers access to a wide range of styrenic plastic products that are used in the automotive, household goods, healthcare and diagnostic, electrical and electronics, and building and construction industries, among others. The platform currently enables Styrolution to offer its extensive product portfolio online in Asia and the Americas. The go-live in EMEA is scheduled for January 2014.
The new online portal has enabled Styrolution to create a consistent online presence in a total of seven languages as well as ensuring uniform presentation of all relevant company and product information worldwide. At the same time, customers benefit from improved, user-focused functionality. The advantages include a central information platform that provides access to all the key information on product innovations, orders, delivery status, and order history, while customers can also make use of an extensive range of self-service functions.
By deploying Intershop 7, Styrolution has also invested in more efficient inventory management and order processing, thus helping to cut costs and boost sales. The integrated content management system enables individual changes to be applied to the online store directly via the storefront. This means that modifications to the page layout and design can be made in real time without the need for programming skills. In conjunction with the comprehensive personalization functionality of Intershop 7, content editors at Styrolution are now able to quickly and simply edit and then publish information at a predefined time for specific customer groups or even individual customers.
The powerful B2B features of the new store platform provide business customers with a customized service and maximum convenience when placing orders. This allows management of authorization processes for individual product groups or users, plus repeat orders and favorites lists for new products and services. The extensive product range can be made available in personalized customer-specific and country-specific catalogs.
“Because it was possible to tailor the Intershop platform to our exact business requirements, we now have a powerful e-commerce solution that will enable us to handle our business globally. This will enable us to increase our customer base and drive forward international growth”, said Thomas H. Warren, Global IT Application Manager at Styrolution. “The stability and ease of use Intershop 7 offers stood out right from the start. Intershop carried out the portal project as our prime contractor. They were extremely flexible and highly motivated throughout the period we worked with them, which really impressed us and led to the customer-supplier relationship soon becoming a partnership. We are more than satisfied with the result. Our customers have reacted favorably to the improved functionality and customized shopping experience offered by the new online store. With the Intershop platform, we’re confident that we can achieve our e-commerce objectives—not just now, but also in the future.”
