Intershop Acquires New Hamburg-Based Customer and - Multimedia e-commerce sites with a blend of entertainment and edutainment software

  • sqoops launches PC games shopping portal with Enfinity Suite 6

Jena, Germany, January 10, 2007 - Established in 2005, sqoops GmbH sells PC and console games on its German-language websites at and The sites are also packed with integrated games experiences, information on PC games, and other entertainment features. sqoops opted for a transaction-based pricing model that allows Intershop to benefit from future transactions. Germany media firm Computec Media AG already acquired a 15% stake in sqoops GmbH before the official launch of the portal at the end of September.

With its blend of entertainment and edutainment software, the multimedia e-commerce site is aimed at families, as well as more traditional games consumers. Accordingly, the portal needs to be not only easy and fun to use, but also safe. The site therefore provides a simple parental control function, which can be set to suit the age of the child.

Relevant data and the preferences of portal visitors are stored in customer accounts. In addition, the accounts are linked to a bonus point system that allows every customer to receive sqoops cents in return for purchases or participating in integrated games. IPS Datenservice GmbH is responsible for payment and delivery.

The successful integration of multiple servers and different hardware components shows that the Intershop solution is highly flexible and capable of meeting sqoops' diverse requirements. These requirements included creating interfaces to the existing IT environments of sqoops and its logistics partner.
