eBay Inc. assumes significant equity position in Intershop Communications AG

Jena, Germany, June 21, 2011 - With the acquisition of GSI Commerce Inc. complete, eBay/GSI maintains a near 27% equity position in premier eCommerce solutions provider - Intershop Communications AG. eBay/GSI is now the largest single shareholder of Intershop stock. Intershop has been at the forefront of online commerce for nearly two decades. eBay/GSI’s equity position in the company represents validation and endorsement of the capabilities, internationalization, reach, and scalability, of Intershop’s global commerce platform.

eBay has recently invested significantly in technologies and companies to increase its global commerce brand. eBay CFO Bob Swan states “The Intershop software and GSI on-demand webstore platforms are provided for large and medium sized enterprise retailers. Combined with our latest acquisition of the Magento open source commerce platform for small businesses, we will enhance our position as the leading strategic global commerce partner of choice for retailers and brands of all sizes.”
