Jena, Germany - November 23, 2006 - Intershop Communications AG is setting a high standard with its new Online Marketing business unit, as reflected by the recent recognition of its SoQuero-branded solutions. The German industry association for the digital economy (Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft e.V.) has awarded Intershop's Online Marketing business unit its SEM and SEO certificate for the customer-friendly and professional way Intershop markets paid listing services (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO).
The certificates were created at the beginning of 2006 and take account of the very latest technology requirements. Intershop's application for certification was successful at the first attempt, making it one of only ten businesses in Germany to receive both awards. Intershop has been a member of the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW) since acquiring SoQuero GmbH, which held the previous version of the SEM certificate.
The BVDW's Search Engine Marketing Group has awarded the SEM certificate since 2004, and added the SEO certificate this year. The certificates go to companies and agencies active in the field of search engine marketing. Criteria for awarding the certificates include looking at how companies work, their experience, transparency, and commitment in this market.
Certified companies must agree to maintain strict quality standards across all customer domains. The certificate is thus not only a standardized seal of quality but also serves to promote self-regulation within the industry. The Group's certification team carries out regular checks to ensure guidelines are complied with and remain up to date.
