Intershop Launches Global Catalog for Sun Microsystems
Go-live of Sun's Global Catalog: catalogs.sun.com
- Intershop’s Enfinity Suite 6 powers Sun Microsystems’ catalog to centrally manage more than 60 global channels in 10 languages
San Francisco, CA, December 08, 2008 – Intershop Communications, a leading provider of e-commerce solutions for large and medium global enterprises, today announced the go-live of its Sun Global Catalog (catalogs.sun.com). Sun Microsystems, a long-time customer of Intershop, provides a diversity of software, systems, services, and microelectronics powering everything from consumer electronics, to developer tools and the world's most powerful data centers.
Sun is utilizing Enfinity Suite 6 to centrally manage over 60 global channels in ten languages and will list over 40,000 products.
Intershop’s latest Enfinity Suite 6 release allows Sun to leverage a rich native feature set including:
- Full Internationalization and Localization with more than 50 country- and regional-specific catalogs
- Advanced Customer Relations with customer-specific catalogs including agreements or contract pricing, catalog syndication, cXML and Open Client Interface (OCI) punchouts
- Efficient Data Management with hierarchical product sharing among channels and selective and automated organization data replication process.
“This site further strengthens Intershop and Sun partnership with the development of product sharing feature as well as the organization replication process. Intershop works closely with Sun to continuously enhance the Enfinity Suite 6 product to meet Sun’s requirements.” stated John Renko, E-Commerce Engineering Manager at Sun.
“Sun has not only successfully ported their legacy catalogs into their Common Web Platform, but also rolled it out with minimal involvement from Intershop proving that Enfinity is easy to adopt and implement” said Tjipto Sugijoto, Consulting Director at Intershop.
Intershop’s Enfinity Suite 6 was originally selected as Common Web Platform (CWP) for e-commerce and implemented for shop.sun.com in 2006. Intershop was a natural fit for the Sun Global Catalog and is now in implementation of further e-commerce initiatives. Since initial launch, Sun has truly become a global showcase for Intershop’s e-commerce vision.
