Intershop Implements Search Engine Optimization for Deutsche Telekom

Jena, Germany, April 12, 2007 - Intershop Deutsche Telekom, a long-time Intershop e-commerce customer, is now also working with the Jena-based company in the field of online marketing. Germany’s largest telecommunications provider has awarded Intershop a contract for search engine optimization of its www.t-com.de website.

The project comprises technical analysis of the website, defining the most important search terms, technical and textual restructuring of the site, and optimization of the existing external links.

Search engine optimization is now one of the most efficient tools for effective online marketing. More than 80 percent of all Internet surfers use search engines to locate information and products on the Net.

“Optimizing their website for search engines has become a critical activity for companies seeking a competitive edge,” says Ralf Männlein, the Intershop board member responsible for sales and marketing. “The online marketing solutions available from Intershop since last year represent a valuable additional portfolio for our customers and round out our end-to-end e-commerce expertise. We can now specifically engineer our customers’ e-commerce websites to meet search engine criteria, thereby significantly boosting their online success.”

The acquisition in June 2006 of SoQuero, a Frankfurt-based online marketing service provider, enabled Intershop to establish online marketing solutions as a second line of business alongside its proven e-commerce software.

Deutsche Telekom has been one of Intershop’s largest customers for over 10 years. Its principal customer website (www.t-com.de) is powered by Intershop’s latest generation Enfinity Suite 6 software and will be one of the first sites to be optimized for search engine success.
