Lenscare AG is "2006 Online Store of the Year"

Intershop customer wins award at Mail-Order Conference in Wiesbaden - Jury praises service, product knowledge, and customer information

Jena/Wiesbaden, Germany - October 25, 2006 - Kiel-based Lenscare AG was recognized at this year's German Mail-Order Conference with the "2006 Online Store of the Year" award. The awards ceremony took place today, Wednesday, at the conference venue in Wiesbaden. Lenscare, Europe's biggest mail-order supplier of contact lenses and accessories, was a surprise winner, beating Weltbild.de and the prior year's winner, Otto.de.

Powered by packaged Enfinity Suite 6 software from Intershop, the Lenscare shopping platform for contact lenses, care products, and accessories particularly impressed the jury with its compelling blend of products, service, and customer information from the homepage onward. The distinguished panel also commended the smooth handling of purchases and the ability to buy products via a choice of channels. The jury praised Lenscare for proving that even small companies can achieve major online impact.

Lenscare board member Michael Jurcher: "This award means a lot to us. As a manufacturer and provider of medical products, delivering the high level of customer advice, service, and information necessary with such items is a key challenge." The new store was developed last year, going live in December 2005. "It reflects our ten years of experience in selling medical products," comments Jurcher.

Lenscare is certified across Europe as a manufacturer of medical products. As well as high-end Lenscare-branded products, the company provides items from many leading manufacturers, which can be ordered by catalog, online, or by phone. Lenscare products are also available in many pharmacies.

The company employs 55 people at its Kiel headquarters but will grow to around 70 by the start of 2008. Lenscare AG is currently experiencing the strongest sales growth in its history.
