Hamburg, October 26, 1999. INTERSHOP Communications AG (SIN 622700), a leading global provider of e-commerce software, today reported its preliminary financial results for the third quarter and the first nine months of 1999.

Third-quarter revenues were up 132 % or Euro 6.0 million to Euro 10.6 million from the comparable 1998 figure of Euro 4.6 million. License revenues were up 150 %. Gross margin rose Euro 4.2 million or 136 % to Euro 7.2 million. This represents an improvement of Euro 600,000 or 15 %. Net loss of Euro 3.3 million remained stable compared to Euro 3.2 million last year due to lower interest income and subsidies. Loss per share was down to Euro 0.17 (previous year Euro 0.20). Intershop CFO Wilfried Beeck stated: „We are very pleased with the quarter. We have surpassed our goals inspite of new product announcements and partial uncertainty due to the Y2K transition, and have grown distinctly more than 100 %. At the same time the operating results have again improved.”

Intershop ended the first nine months of 1999 as follows: revenues were up 132 % to Euro 27.0 million. Gross profit rose Euro 11.4 million or 144 % to Euro 19.4 million in the first nine months. Net loss for the first nine months improved by 19 % to DM 11.0 million. Loss per share was down to Euro 0.57 (previous year Euro 1.27).

Intershops positive performance during the third quarter resulted from follow-up business with existing customers as well as from sales to a large number of new customers.
