INTERSHOP Communications AG, one the leading providers of electronic commerce software, achieved revenues of US$ 5.4m in the 3rd Quarter of 1998, according to preliminary data. This indicates a rise of 28 percent as opposed to US$ 4.2m in the 2nd Quarter. Compared with the 3rd Quarter of last year, revenue has tripled. The explanation for the growth is very much due to the sharp rise in business in the US, where the fiercest battles are being fought for electronic commerce. INTERSHOP was able to raise its quarterly revenues there by nearly 70 percent, from US$ 1.3m to US$ 2.2m.
During the first nine months of 1998, worldwide revenues reached US$ 13.3m, an increase of 315 percent compared with the same period last year. CFO Wilfried Beeck: “We are very much on course en route to achieving our year’s forecast of US$ 20m in revenue or to even surpass it. The positive development in the 3rd Quarter indicates that we are also able to gain market share in the US, thanks to our leading product technology, focused marketing strategy and increasing degree of product awareness; we are clearly growing faster there than in the market as a whole.”
More details on interim revenues and results will be announced on October 26, 1998. Discussions with analysts and investors will take place during the week of Oct. 26 - 30. The 9-Months-Report will be published on November 18, 1998.
