Sales Engineer

POSITION
The Sales Engineer is responsible for presales technical/functional support activity to prospective clients and current customers with some supervision. This is an individual contributor position.  As integral member of the sales team, provide effective presentations, demonstrations and technical support during selling cycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as part of sales team to formulate account strategies
  • Conduct requirements surveys at customer sites
  • Identify solutions to customer’s business problems utilizing the Intershop suite of products and related partner technologies
  • Present and discuss solutions to customer's executives and staff
  • Own the pre sales technical relationship with the customers and be responsible for ensuring that Intershop wins product evaluations
  • Architect Intershop based solutions to customer's problems
  • Build and deliver custom presentations to customer
  • Collaborate with customers to identify demonstration scenarios and build custom demonstrations to showcase the solution capabilities
  • Ability to outline business benefits for prospects
  • Demonstrate products to small and large audiences including C-Level
  • Develop competitive knowledge and leverage in sales cycle
  • Keep up with industry trends and best practices
  • Be a visionary to our prospects
  • Develop specific areas of expertise in addition to maintaining broad product skills
  • Travel within your assigned territory as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a customer retail commerce environment
  • Develops deep product/solution knowledge and the application and value of applying those solutions to prospect/customer objectives
  • 50-70% travel required
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to present business solutions to senior executives as well as technology to engineers
  • Experience in architecting/developing complex, tiered Intenet applications
  • Enterprise architecture knowledge and experience such as Infrastructure,
  • Enterprise applications, E-Commerce, Integration (EAI)
  • Familiar with on-Premise, hosted, managed services and Business Process outsourcing deployment models
  • Experience in Telco/High-Tech, Retail, Automotive or manufacturing industry and processes is preferred
  • Experience with E-Commerce solutions: ATG, Blue Martini, Comergent, etc.
  • Experience as a technical resource in a pre-sales environment
